Cron Question

I apologize for this obvious noob question. I've never used Cron before. Do I need to use it with WP-o-Matic or does setting things up in the plugin suffice (it is working so long as I do NOT use "Unix cron"; but otoh, I've been accessing the site a lot today and normally that won't necessarily be the case). Also, if I do use Cron in my cPanel (which I've never done before), how does that interact with the "Frequency" setting in WP-o-Matic?
Again, sorry for the noobie stuff.
