Can only get feeds from urls on my box

I am not able to parse any feeds form outside my own server. I always get:
could not be parsed (SimplePie said: cURL error 7: couldn't connect to host)
If I try to fetch an rss feed form my own server it works fine. During setup it said my server was all good and I also installed the simple pie plugin seperately.
