post count conflict

Reported by idyl | March 3rd, 2009 @ 11:13 PM

I had this problem before, and now I am having it again. I installed Simple Tags, and now every time I automate tags on existing posts, the post count goes up by the number of posts that have been updated.

Example. Last post number is "?p=300." If I update tags with auto function in Simple Tags, and 50 posts get updated, the next post number will be "?p=351".

I really like it when each post is sequential, and an accurate representation of the number of posts on the site. There is something in WP-o-Matic that conflicts with other plug-ins that manage post content. Is there a way to modify or update the post count function in WP-o-Matic so that I don't get this error?

Thanks

I finally fixed this issue. It has to do with the revision and autosave feature in WordPress (and not WP-o-Matic). Ever since 2.6, WP saves automatic updates and revisions in the database (which takes up post IDs). You can disable this feature in the WP config file. I turned it off, and now am happy as can be.
