Wpomatic WP-o-Matic

Hey everyone,

I was having major problems with wp-o-matic overloading my server's CPU and creating TONS of duplicate posts. Well, I think I've found a fix, and I wanted to share it with everyone because I know how aggravating these problems can be...

First, you must setup the unix cron. If you try to let wordpress handle it, it will spit up duplicate posts all over your site. It's really easy, just copy the cron command from wp-o-matic options (without any ***, ///, or numbers that appear before the URL). Then login to your host's cpanel, click on cron jobs (standard), paste the command url, and then set it up to run every 15 min, every hour, every day, every month, etc...

The reason I set mine for every 15 mins is: I figured it would create more posts over the course of a day, but LESS posts at one time. If there's no new items to post from your RSS feeds, it just wont post anything. I think this is better than making the cron wait a whole day or several hours, and then processing 10's or even 100's of posts at one time. This way it's only adding a few posts 3 - 4 times an hour, which is a much lighter load.

After you setup the unix cron, although this might seem counter intuitive, DEACTIVATE the plugin. I don't know why or how it works, but it does (I'm 99% sure). For three days in a row, my server was crashing at least every time wp-o-matic processed a campain, but typically more often. It's been 24 hours since I deactivated wp-o-matic, and it works beautifully now! No more duplicates, no more cpu overloads... just nice, clean posts every 15 mins.

Anyways, I don't want to guarantee that this will solve all your wp-o-matic problems, but it seems to have been the solution for me. If your cpu is exceeding it's limit or your having other problems, I'd say give deactivating the plugin a shot.
