Interactivity and Consequences

Horror games also introduce a level of interactivity that movies cannot. In a game, your horror games actions have consequences. If you make a wrong move, you might trigger a jump scare, get attacked by a monster, or fail a mission. This sense of personal responsibility amplifies the tension because your decisions directly impact the outcome. Every time you open a door, pick up an item, or investigate a suspicious noise, you feel a sense of dread.
In movies, the characters' fates are predetermined, so while you may feel scared for them, you’re not involved in making those life-or-death decisions. The lack of direct consequences makes horror films a less intense experience compared to games where you are in control of your own survival.
