Error 500 When Plugin Is Activated

Installed the plugin and set it up, then I was getting a ton of cron errors so I removed the cron job.
Posts were fetched however I had 100's of duplicate posts that I had to delete.
Fixed the duplicates issue by replacing $suffix = 2 in wp-includes/post.php
I deactivated the plugin to get dupes removed.
Now when I try to reactivate the plugin I automatically get error 500.
Ideas/suggestions/fix?

Fixed
Problem was that there were a TON or processes from using cpanel to run the cron job so I had to get the host to kill off all the processes.
