race condition in cron jobs

ok, after lots of debugging and testing it has come to my attention that wp-o-matic has no way of checking if it's cron is running, so when 2 users go to the site and the cron runs, it will have multiple posts.
there is work arounds currently, however this problem should be addressed. putting a lock bit into the database should help.
