RegEx rules

Thanks for a great plugin. I've been using it for a good year now and am very happy with it.
I would like to add a rewrite to my posts using regex:
\bword\b and change this into word
Yet I was unable to enter the \b as WP-o-matic changed that into \b and gave an error "Rewrites
There's an error with the supplied RegEx expression"
MY REQUEST:
Could you please explain in what format I should enter the regex
clause so that it will distinguish only separate words?
